An important meeting of the Currituck County Democratic Party will be held on Tuesday, January 12, 2010, at 7:00 p.m. at the Judicial Center in Currituck, Courtroom B.
All Currituck County Democrats, County Officers and Executive Committee Members of the Party are encouraged to attend this important meeting.
The meeting is significant because candidates for any of the county offices that will be on the ballot in 2010, should indicate their intent to run to the Currituck Democratic Party. All persons who are thinking about running as a Democrat for a county office should attend and state their intent to the party membership. Each potential candidate will be given an opportunity to speak and should be prepared to answer questions posed by the party membership.
If more than one (1) person announces his/her candidacy for a position, the Democratic Party will not make an endorsement of a candidate until after the Primary on May 4, 2010.. If only one (1) Democrat files for a specific office, then the Party will begin immediately after the filing deadline passes to work with that individual by providing support. If no one announces candidacy for an office by January 12, the Party will immediately begin to recruit a candidate to file for the office. (Filing begins Feb. 8th at noon and ends Feb. 26th at noon)
We want to be the Party “United For A Brighter Tomorrow” for what is best for every citizen of Currituck County.. The Party requests all Democrats’ efforts and commitments to help achieve this goal.
If you are planning to announce intent as a Democratic candidate for any County Office, please contact me prior to January 12, to make sure you are recognized and have the opportunity to speak. I await your phone calls with great excitement and anticipation as we move forward to the General Election on November 2, 2010.
